Compare Phillies Blunt and Backwoods Original machine made cigars on flavor, history, and value. Find out which one suits your taste and budget.
Quick answer
Choose Backwoods Original if you want a classic, aromatic cigar with a one-of-a-kind shape and a lower upfront price. Choose Phillies Blunt if you prefer a consistent, straightforward machine made cigar with a blend of Dominican and Honduran fillers. Your decision comes down to flavor preference and how much you value consistency versus character.
Flavor profile: aromatic punch vs straightforward tobacco
Backwoods Original delivers what the catalog calls a 'tasteful, aromatic punch.' Each cigar is one of a kind in shape, but the flavor stays consistent. That makes it a good fit if you enjoy a distinctive, aromatic smoke.
Phillies Blunt uses Dominican and Honduran fillers with a sheet wrapper and binder. The result is a straightforward tobacco taste that many smokers find reliable and easy to enjoy. If you prefer a classic cigar flavor without extra aromatic notes, Phillies is the safer pick.
History and consistency: classic character vs everyday reliability
Backwoods Original is described as 'the classic cigar that started it all.' Its appeal lies in its individuality—no two cigars look the same—while the taste remains familiar.
Phillies has been making machine made cigars since 1929, and the Blunt line launched in 2002. That long track record means you know what you're getting each time. If consistency matters more than novelty, Phillies wins here.
Price and value: what you pay upfront vs per cigar
At BnB Tobacco, Backwoods Original is listed at $35.99 (compare at $49.99), while Phillies Blunt is $42.69 (compare at $69.99). The upfront price is lower for Backwoods, but the pack size and cigar count aren't specified in the catalog. To compare value fairly, check the product options for exact quantities before you buy.
Both are machine made cigars, so the price difference likely reflects tobacco blend and brand positioning rather than handmade construction. If budget is your main concern, Backwoods has the lower entry point; if you want a known filler blend, Phillies may justify the higher price.
